I have some atheist friends in Second Life, and our hobby is to crash silly meetings with science and reason (and the occasional annoying attachment). Today, Scort, Tiberius, and I attended an astrology meeting.

[12:30] Scort Eyre: I don't understand. Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
[12:31] Soothsayer Pleides: Why Astroids?
[12:31] Soothsayer Pleides: Why is Astrol a Path to awakening?

[12:35] Soothsayer Pleides: all inclusive
[12:35] Narinia Silverweb: scort is wearing large items
[12:35] Narinia Silverweb: I can see
[12:35] Narinia Silverweb: I am zoomed out
[12:35] Narinia Silverweb: he wears a building
[12:36] Andrea Book: question: does the rock-to-ice-to-metals ratio in asteroids have any effect on the charts?
[12:38] Soothsayer Pleides: ? Asteroids are essentially Goddesses
[12:41] Tiberius Greggan: If the asteroids are godesses. Are comets gods?
[12:44] Narinia Silverweb: hello Tiberius
[12:46] Tiberius Greggan: Is this Astronomy or Astrology?
[12:46] Teal Freenote: astrology
[12:46] Tiberius Greggan: oh
[12:46] Tiberius Greggan: this is all crap then
[12:47] Tiberius Greggan: cya
[12:47] Narinia Silverweb: don't let the dor hit you in the ass
[12:47] Scort Eyre: Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
[12:47] Soothsayer Pleides: Universe transfers into behavior, feelings and thoughts and events
[12:47] Andrea Book: so, do the asteroids which are broken off of moons and planets become lke goddess clones o the parent gd?
(Note: they actually answered this question with a "yes" on voice!)
[12:48] Scort Eyre: What about Pluto? It's not a planet, so is it a supergod?
[12:49] Andrea Book: so the ones which are busted up into tiny bits and burn up in the atmospher die a horrible death?
[12:49] Soothsayer Pleides: symbolic system that works in informing us. Flat period
There was more on voice which I cannot transcribe (for obvious reasons), but essentially were echos of this conversation, mixed in with "can you guys hear me? Am I breaking up?"
I still can't believe people think this is all true! But perhaps they don't. Perhaps to them it really is all symbolism of the little thoughts they think in their heads. Who knows? It's still good for the lulz.

People are strange.
Andrea Book: question: does the rock-to-ice-to-metals ratio in asteroids have any effect on the charts?
Best part, I thought. :)
@Derek_Timothy - :D
@Andrea_TheNerd - You mean you disrupt relatively harmless meetings to ridicule their belief systems, however ridiculous those beliefs may be? Why? I would have thought that was somewhat redundent to annoy the local ladies in their astrology get-together. I'm sorry but that just sounds like a bunch of smart-arse kids annoying the grownups.Have you ever considered disrupting more harmfull meetings, such as with scientology or the local fascist organization? If not, why not?
@Lovegrove - I have yet to see a Scientology or Fascist meeting in Second Life. When they have one, I'll be there. As far as disruption goes, I fail to see how sitting and politely listening while interjecting a few science questions is disrupting (pay no attention to the Scort behind the curtain - he was kicked out and rightly so for wearing an entire house). If that's the case, then the truth itself is "disrupting" and there's really nothing I can do about that fact.
I'm with Lovegrove here, it does seem like you're just being an annoying smartass. I'm all for being a snarky bitch sometimes, but your methods aren't going to change anyone's mind and you're just being obnoxious. You also don't seem to realize that people could just hang around and talk about astrology because it's something silly and fun; I'm a skeptical agnostic and I read my horoscope every week 'cause, I don't know, 'cause it's there, 'cause why not? It's a silly thing to talk about. If someone does believe strongly in it, then you're just being a disrepectful jerkass. I'm not going to tell you that you ought to believe what I believe, likewise you shouldn't do the same to others. (So a lot of the world hasn't figured this out; we like to call them "crazy fundies.")
"[I]nterjecting a few science questions" is disrupting if they're not immediately relevant to the topic at hand (which yours weren't) and disrupt the fow of conversation. So, yeah. There are better places for your soapbox, where your message might actually be heard and you won't come across as a self righteous asshat.
(Also, oh, hi. I followed a link here from Socimages on one of your comments. I'm not usually this uppity.)
